UnitedHealthcare FAQ
Patients with UnitedHealthcare will be in-network beginning on August 15, 2023.
Not a problem, you can call our Patient Navigation Center at 501-506-2747.
Conway Regional is dedicated to serving its community, but United Healthcare is currently paying competitors significantly more for the same care. This issue has been a focal point during negotiations with United Healthcare. As medical care costs continue to rise, it is important for Conway Regional to receive a fair market rate in order to provide the care our patients deserve. Our goal as a health care system is to be accountable to the community and provide high-quality, compassionate health care services. To achieve this, we depend on accountable healthcare partners.
Since 2021, federal law has required hospitals to publicly disclose their standard prices and negotiated discounts for common health services. This aims to encourage consumers to compare prices and promote competition. This rule also allows hospitals to know the rates other hospitals receive from insurance providers, which is a new development.
Despite Conway Regional's longstanding commitment to serving the community, United Healthcare was paying our closest competitor nearly 50% more for the same care.
Conway Regional, along with other healthcare providers, has urged United Healthcare to raise its reimbursement rates due to the increasing costs of care. Northeast Georgia Health System and United Healthcare were unable to reach an agreement and have announced the termination of their contract. Similarly, CaroMont Health in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the University of Vermont Health Network have faced challenges in negotiating with United Healthcare publicly.
After a global pandemic, the healthcare industry is facing challenges such as staff turnover, difficulty in recruiting new employees, rising inflation costs, and a shortage of nurses and physicians nationwide. Insurers engaging in these unnecessary games create distractions and additional obstacles for patients who depend on us to provide timely care for them and their families.
This termination affected Conway Regional Health System, including the medical center in Conway, AR, the Conway Regional Rehabilitation Hospital, Dardanelle Regional Medical Center, over 100 employed and integrated providers, and 150 physicians in the Conway Regional Physician Hospital Organization in the central Arkansas area.
