Diabetes Education
Diabetes is a chronic disease characterized by abnormal blood sugar levels. According to the American Diabetes Association, nearly 30 million people in the United States alone have diabetes with approximately 250,000 in Arkansas. Of those people, 7 million people do not know they have diabetes, and 1.9 million people will be diagnosed this year. If current trends continue, one out of every three children and one out of every two minorities born today will face a future with diabetes.
Life can continue to be abundant after a diagnosis of diabetes, but the condition must be managed. Diabetes is a disease that can lead to life-threatening complications, such as heart disease, stroke, blindness, kidney disease, and others if left uncontrolled.
The Conway Regional Diabetes Education Program offers support services and diabetes education and resources to our community. In addition to offering classes, Conway Regional diabetes educators can be found at health fairs, leading free care groups, and working with media to teach the public how to manage diabetes. We are here to help those individuals who are at risk of diabetes and those who already have diabetes manage their lifestyles and lead healthy, productive lives.
Conway Regional is proud to offer a variety of diabetes-related resources to our community:
The Diabetes Forecast is also a great source to stay up to date on new products and guidelines for diabetes.
